She Leads
- The overall aim of the project is strengthening capacity and leadership of elected women representatives for meaningful political participation.
Mandwi with the technical and financial assistance from IFES is being implementing She Leads Nepal, Women Leadership program in Madhesh Province, Nepal from May 2021 to November 2023 to strengthen capacity and leadership of elected women representatives for thier meaningful political participation.

Till date, Mandwi established a strong rapport with the ward offices, local authorities, media personnel and engaged in preparatory activities such as Elected Women Representatives (EWR) profiling and Connectivity of 594 EWRs, celebrated various days such as National Election Day on 19th February, International Women’s Day on 8th March, International Racial Discrimination Day on 21st March, Youth Day on 12th August, International Day of Democracy on 15th September, the international day of persons with disability on 3rd December, 16-days end of violence against women to sensitize youth and political leaders about significance of women’s political participation (ticketing or candidacy) in upcoming elections and lobby with political parties for at least 33% participation in all political party level, to end gender based violence against women in politics and elections, disinformation and hate speech against women candidacy in upcoming election.
Mandwi also organized media interaction with 65 journalists from Madhesh Province where they committed and started to publish write ups, articles, case studies of elected women representatives on their political journey, challenges, barriers on political participation and opportunities after being elected. Also, Mandwi organized interaction with 25 political parties (active members, executive members) where participants kept their views on the status of gender equality and social inclusion in their wards, and role of male counterparts to create a conducive environment for elected women representatives to take leadership roles at the ward and participate in upcoming local level elections. The program resulted in the Ward Chairs committing to improve the GESI at decision-making process, planning, and capacity-building activities at the Palika level.
Similarly, Mandwi collected data from the elected women representatives contesting in the upcoming local elections where 511 EWRs showed their interest to participate in upcoming election. In addition to that, the concentration of Mandwi was to lobby with different political parties (submitting memorandum) for advocating for 33% of women’s on ensuring active and meaningful political participation in the political party structure and representation in the upcoming election. Based on their interest, Mandwi organized beginners and boot camp trainings to 492 EWRs. Before that, Mandwi trained 10 master trainers to roll out the ToT. Also, Mandwi, handed memorandum to political parties and distributed brochure for disabled access to election. Finally, 292 EWR got ticket for candidacy in local level election and 109 EWRs reelected. 1 EWR has been elected as Deputy Mayor out of 5 EWR who got ticket for Deputy Mayor and 4 for Ward Chair.
Furthermore, Mandwi conducted beginners training module second to newly elected EWRs targeting 612 EWRs. Before that, Mandwi collected information of newly elected women representatives through EWR profiling and facilitated MToT for master trainers.
