Municipality in Sarlahi District attended 8-week life skill sessions from July to September 2019 organized by Mandwi under the SAMWOL project in coordination with local government, technical assistance from EAI and financial support from UN Women. All the 25 members of farmer groups enhanced their knowledge on leader and leadership, self-awareness, empathy/sympathy, Gender equality and Social Inclusion, effective communication and active learning, gender based and women violence, participation of women in local level decision and progressive community and leader and leadership and self-awareness.
During the session on violence, they explored the case of women violence. Mrs Partima Sah was bitten by her father-in-law Mr, Sanjya Sah. They realized that they should help her. Finally, they took her to the local police office. However, police office referred the case to the Judicial committee. They registered the case to judicial committee, that is under process. Similarly, after the session of local level planning and decision making process as well as gender responsive budgeting, they became leverage fund from Municipality for income generation activities such as seed and fertilizer. In doing so, they developed their plan of action, present to the Municipality, influence local government with the assistance of local working group by visiting and discussing with Municipality frequently. In the same way, the confidence of the group members builds up after the confidence building and negotiation session.
